TRAVELING NORTH ON I-91:
Take Exit 24. At end of ramp - go right onto Silas Deane Highway (Route 99).
At approximately 2.7 miles take a left onto Nott Street.
After stop sign take your second right onto Folly Brook Boulevard.
Take first right onto Greenfield Street. Willard Pool is on your right, followed by the Community Center and Nature Center.

TRAVELING SOUTH ON I-91:
Take Exit 28 for Route 5 and 15 (Berlin Turnpike Wethersfield -
Newington).Take Exit 85 (99 South Wethersfield - Rocky Hill).
At 3rd traffic light (Nott Street) take a right.
After stop sign take 2nd right onto
Folly Brook Boulevard.
Take 1st right onto Greenfield Street. Willard Pool is on your right, followed by the Community Center and Nature Center.

TRAVELING NORTH ON RT. 5/15 WILBUR CROSS HIGHWAY (TOWARD HARTFORD):
Take exit indicating Wethersfield 99 South.
At 3rd traffic light take a right onto Nott Street.
After stop sign take 2nd right onto
Folly Brook Boulevard.
Take 1st right onto Greenfield Street. Willard Pool is on your right, followed by the Community Center and Nature Center.

TRAVELING WEST FROM PUTNAM BRIDGE:
Stay on Route 3 to Route 99 (
Silas Deane Highway).
Turn right on Route 99 to 4th traffic light.
Turn left onto Nott Street.
After stop sign take 2nd right onto
Folly Brook Boulevard.
Take 1st right onto Greenfield Street. Willard Pool is on your right, followed by the Community Center and Nature Center.

Pinewood Derby Rules

 

1)         The original block of wood, wheels and axles supplied in the Official Grand Prix Pinewood Derby Kit must be used.  Only nails and wheels that come in the kit are allowed.  Only slots provided for axles in the original block of wood may be used.  Wheelbase may not be stretched or shortened.

 

2)         Maximum car dimensions: The car width shall not exceed 2.75 inches, including wheels.  The car length shall not exceed 7 inches (the original length of the block of wood).  Height shall not exceed 3 inches.

 

3)         Nose design may not be smaller than 0.5 inch centered.

 

4)         The weight of the car shall not exceed 5.0 ounces (141.75 grams).

 

5)         No Washers, bushings, springs, or ball bearings will be permitted on the wheels.

 

6)         Moveable weights are prohibited.

 

7)         Wheels must be sanded flat and as smooth as possible, the tread or contact between the wheel and the track shall remain flat and at the original width of the wheel, rounded treads or “V” treads will not be permitted.

 

8)         Cars may be lubricated prior to registration with powdered graphite.  No oil or silicone is to be used on axles or wheels.  Once the cars are registered, they will be placed in the pit area and handled only by the pit stewards.  The car may be worked on only if damaged.

 

9)         If a car jumps the track, the race will be rerun.  A car that jumps the track three (3) times will be eliminated.  Cars that develop obvious defects such as loose wheels, may be repaired, reweighed and rerun.  One repair is allowed in the interest of fairness and time.

 

10)       No car may be removed from the race area until all racing is complete.

 

11)       The car must be new each year.  Cars raced in a prior years Pinewood Derby are not allowed.

 

12)       All 4 wheels must make full contact on the track at the same time.

 

13)       Any attachments to the car body must be permanently affixed.

 

14)       All cars must meet all specifications. Inspectors have the right to disqualify any car that does not meet all specifications.

 

15)       Scout must be present at race.

 

16)       The decision of the track officials is final !!!!
